Causebox Spring 2021 Unboxing

7/28/2021

When I signed up for Causebox, I chose a year's subscription. This is the last box in the yearly subscription. I chose not to renew. Mostly because while I liked quite a few items sent to me, I think overall it wasn't quite up my alley.

They've since rebranded to AllTrue (AlTrue?). I think they still have a marketplace to shop from and they have later shipping. The late shipping didn't really bother me but that was because I was aware that this was a problem from the get-go and I wasn't desperate for anything coming my way.

That being said, there are some items in this box that I quite like. I did get the box very late. One of the items I chose was the last packaged, so I don't believe I received my box until mid to late May.

There is a thick booklet that is in the box. It details the items and the background of the manufacturing, as well as some fun "extras."

All the choices are listed, even if you didn't personally choose them or receive them.

The next page is an interview with the box's illustrator. Her name is Charlotte Molas. She has a really lovely color palette that I love. It's perfect for Spring. I didn't see Causebox list her shop or anything, but her insta account is @CharlotteMolas.

Nimble CHAMP lite Portable Charger

Not every product received an article, but my first pick did. Nimble has declared themselves an 100% eco-conscious tech brand. This is nice, but I can also claim to be eco-conscious when I use my reusable straw. I'm not hating on them, I'm just constantly suspicious of tech companies (and beauty companies) and their "clean" claims. Their charger is made from 72.5% recycled plastic and they ship in plastic-free packaging. I appreciate that for sure. Their products are made from CDs/DVDs/CD-ROMs, recycled aluminum, recycled plastic bottles, organic hemp, and recycled scrap paper.

Also included in the packaging (I don't think I took a photo) is a post-consumer plastic bag so customers can recycle the product. Nimble also offers selected recycle options for other waste. I do like that.

I don't know if we were allowed to pick a color or not. If not, I lucked out. If we were, than this is the color I picked. It's a beautiful sea blue color. It has the elephant logo and a charge indicator.

Causebox has it listed as $50 value. Nimble has a variety of portable charges, and as I write this, the portable (color) chargers are on sale for 50% off. I love portable charges. Mostly because when the occasional hurricane hits, it can charge my phone (for emergency use) and my e-reader and lights. Going to the bathroom in the pitch black is not enjoyable. I mostly chill with the hurricane down-time but I like knowing that if I need to call 911, I can. This one is light enough that I can carry it in a purse and not have it weight me down.

Of all the products I received in the box, this was probably my favorite. Loved the color, loved the use, I do love the idea of the ability to easily recycle this. I am that type that keeps a box of e-waste in my garage for the yearly recycle at the city, so...

Pur lit mist illuminating setting spray

My second choice! I quite like Pur as a brand. I tend to only use setting sprays in the summer if I'm out for a day, so I'm not an expert. Anyways, this also received a little promo article. The next page has my third choice, so I'll sandwich it between these two posts.

The Lit Mist has a bit of a glow to it, so it should help if you want a "dewy" look. It also has green tea and vitamin B, which supposedly help with blue light protection. The directions say to hold it eight to ten inches from your face and pump two or three times. It can also be sprayed onto brushes and applicators.

While I do like the brand, I haven't used it as I'm currently working through a Pixi mist. It's a pretty pink-orange color and was a lovely large size.

adesse new york power couple nail care duo

This was my last choice. According to a forum I'm on, everyone with this choice was in the last shipment, so these cute little bottles were holding up my box. I picked them because the other option was a lip care duo (I have so many lip scrubs/balms) and I'm trying to work on my nails.

This company is vegan, cruelty free, and they try to use organic ingredients. I really appreciate the cruelty free aspect. I haven't used these as of yet. I'm trying to work through what I have. These will eventually get used.

I keep my nail care pretty basic since I often dip into more conservative (read: financial and law) spheres. So nothing or a light pink. But when I can, I break out the crazy colors and nail art. I don't tend to wear a lot of fake nails/acrylic or get them done professionally because my nail bed just doesn't love colors. It chips like crazy. Even press on nails or nails with glue only stay on a few days. It's not great. All that is to say, I can tell from the smells that there's some chemicals afoot. While I can't say what's healthy or acceptable and what isn't, I can understand the push for cleaner and eco-friendly nail care.

One of the little goodies included in the booklet was a horoscope page. These are spring horoscopes...so I guess it was nice to see if they came true since I didn't get my box until the end there. Ha!

They horoscopes are fun and mostly about giving yourself a break or treat. I 100% do not believe in this stuff but I do have a friend who's spouse is gung-ho on it. Whatever floats the boat. I feel it's harmless.

Stojo Collapsible 16 oz. cup

Picture
Oh whoops, this was also a choice! Well, of the three options, I picked this collapsible cup. I thought if I didn't use it, than it would be a great gift (I ended up keeping it).

This is a dishwasher safe cup. It' not my first Stojo product. I love the brad so this choice was a no-brainer.

Another option was stress bands. I have quite a few already, so I didn't pick them but I did appreciate this exercise guide.

This works stress check sleep spray

This was not a choice--everyone received this product. I think it's a lovely idea but my silly head does not like scents on my sheets (I've had to go get specialty non-scented detergent JUST for my sheets). I've tried many products for aromatherapy for migraine pain and that's how I discovered that this is not my path in life.

I will say, it makes a fabulous gift for people without persnickety issues. The main scents are lavender, lemon balm, Moroccan chamomile, and patchouli. All four of those scents are often used in spas or therapy to help ground and calm a person. Well, my spa uses frankincense, which I had never smelled before but now I'm slightly in love with.

Feed projects Canvas Markt TOte

FEED is quite a famous social brand. It was a pretty big deal when they partnered with Causebox. This tote has quite a lot of depth. I suppose it would be great for a market trip, but I'm more likely to pack it for the beach.

There were many options for colors, but I choose this green/blue color. The straps are thin, which I don't love but it's okay. It's otherwise sturdy.

We also received a postcard, I believe designed by the box's artist. It's very beautiful.
The last goodie is a page with two recipies, an Almond Joy Smoothie and an Almond Joy Latte.
