Popsugar Summer 2019 Unboxing

9/12/2019

I believe PopSugar has been a quarterly box for at least a year now. I do miss the monthly boxes but I'm sure they were a pain to prepare and send out every month. The quarterly model seems to sell out almost every time as well.

I wasn't overly keen on everything in this box at first but then after trying it out...I became a fan.

PopSugar does release detailed descriptions on all their boxes with (affiliate) links to buy the items.

Included in the Summer Box:

Seafolly Bronte Sunglasses in Blue Stone. There were two color choices, I picked the dark ones. I wasn't too keen on these at first as they're a unique shape and I didn't think they looked great on any of the models. They strangely work in motion, so I'm thinking they just don't photograph well. They're well made and cover my whole eye area. They're my go to sunglasses at the moment; they just live in my purse.

Julep Crème-to-Powder Eyeshadow Stick in Champagne Shimmer. It's a nice formula and is really beautiful on the eye. Julep was in Ulta but my Ulta moved things around so I've been lost.

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea™ Mermaid Skin™ Hyaluronic H₂O Serum. I have Tarte's sunscreen (love it) but this is a new formula for me. I haven't used it yet but I do like hyaluronic acids and I like serums.

Hint Sunscreen (pear) and Sunstick (pineapple). Hint was included in a previous box with their flavored water (which was pretty good). I did bring these with my to the beach the last time I went. There is a scent but I found it subtle enough. Granted, the wind was fairly strong so I might not have been getting the full bang of it. It's a SPF 30.

Candy Club Lemonade Straws. These were sour but covered in sugar. It was a taste of dichotomy. They're a vegan snack (always nice to have snacks everyone can have). I didn't love them because I don't like sour things but I know I like other things by the Candy Club. So for me it was the flavor profile.

There were two choices of towels, I picked the dotted one (it's not symmetrical dots) called the 'Mathea' after Mathea Olin, a teenage surfer, who collaborated with the company. The towel is made by Tofino Towel Company and is a cotton terry velour. It's quite nice and thick. I've packed it for the beach but used it on top of my beach blanket for added padding.

Brooklyn Hat Co. Palm Fiber Safari Hat. This is so well made! I'm not normally one for hats but I kept this one. It's nice for the beach, gardening or chilling out in the sunshine. I was pleasantly surprised by this item and it's become one of my favorites from the box.

PopSugar sends 'extra' items, usually samples, for people to try out. This month we received a large sample from Nair and a four-part sample from StriVectin.

StriVectin Skin Reset™ 4-Week Intensive Rejuvenation System 4-Day Tryout Sample. The system is supposed to be used over four weeks. Ulta has pricing from $97 to $140 for all four serums together. I haven't used this at all as of yet...and I honestly don't have a single StriVectin item. I'm kinda excited to try it out. I do have a ridiculous level of other skincare items to get through so who knows when that try out will happen.

Nair™ Leg Mask Exfoliate + Smooth with Seaweed. This was a large sample, probably big enough to do both legs and them some. It's supposed to get rid of hair, minimize any hair regrowth and exfoliate and smooth. This version of nair has seaweed added to it. While I haven't used this one, I have used Nair before. I go between Nair, shaving and waxing (when I'm brave).

The booklet that comes with the box has full page pictures and descriptions of each item, a note from Lisa Sugar and little extras like the 2019 Summer Happiness Challenge (right) which is a nice little thing.

The box is slightly more eco-friendly but still sturdy. I included a video of an unboxing below so the items can be seen in reference to size and movement.
