The Book Drop June 2020 Unboxing

I'm so excited! I signed up for a pen-pal exchange. It's global but I forgot to check that box so I need to email the person in charge and tell them I'll be on the list for extra letter writing in case someone drops out, and I'll be willing to post international. I've got all the supplies. Plus, I ordered cute stamps for this. I'm not sure what I'm going to write to a stranger but it's going to be fun.

On to the unboxing! The Book Drop is a subscription service from Bethany Beach Books. They have eight different options for book choices, including genre mixes. You can change your option easily (it just takes an email). I changed from the "Tea" to "Bubbly." The bubbly option is romance and friendship genres, which I thought I needed to give some lift to my reading tone. Less "murder-ey"

For June, the book was a cute romance. An author signature plate was included as well as a letter from the author. The bookmark included was animal themed (a whale!) and the little extras (post card and the Indie flyer). The indie flyer isn't in the pictures because I must have taken it out to read at the computer (and to add to my digital to-buy/library rent folder).

I really love when we get an author note, Q&A, random insight in general. I think it does add something to the book but I do understand it's a lot to ask of an author to do even more marketing type things.

The postcard explains a little about the book and why it was chosen (besides publisher intervention and marketing, that's always a given). The first sentence is so correct, "this cover screams VACATION" because the cover is amazing. This book is the first in a new series and I hope the cover art continues because it's so delightful and matches the book's setting perfectly.

I have read the book and have a review lined up. The setting is Key West, Florida.

Sorry for the bookmark being upside down. I did put the signed bookplate in and it's crooked. I'm not good with these things and I'm almost to the point of developing a complex over how bad it is. Anyways, we also received a promotional for Oliveras' books (she has other series). I do like getting stuff like this because if I love an author it makes it beyond easy to jump off. Granted, the internet is never far away.

Please forgive my horrible pictures. I tried to photograph in a new place because it was storming so much when I was taking pictures and so dark outside that my normal (natural light) place was useless. Apparently the angle or place wasn't great for a backup.

The cover design continues on the back. Really, it's one of the prettiest designs I've seen in awhile, so bravo Zebra publishers.

I like a pretty book. And I do appreciate that I can take this one out in public without a headless male torso flashing everywhere.

Synopsis:

Sought-after social media influencer Sara Vance, in recovery from an eating disorder, is coming into her own, with a potential career expansion on the horizon. Despite the good news, her successful siblings (and their perfect spouses) have a way of making her feel like the odd one out. So, when her unreliable boyfriend is a no-show for a Florida family vacation, Sara recruits Luis Navarro—a firefighter paramedic and dive captain willing to play the part of her smitten fiancé . . .

Luis’s big Cuban familia has been in Key West for generations, and his quiet strength feeds off the island’s laidback style. Though guarded after a deep betrayal, he’ll always help someone in need—especially a spunky beauty with a surprising knowledge of Spanish curse words. Soon, he and Sara have memorized their “how we met” story and are immersed in family dinners, bike tours, private snorkeling trips . . . sharing secrets, and slow, melting kisses. But when it’s time for Sara to return home, will their island romance last or fade with the stunning sunset?
