The Book Drop October 2020

2/18/2021

The Book Drop has multiple options for book genres, and I have the "Books for Bubbly" which is the romance and friendship books. It's been a nice choice during a pandemic since they're usually happy and have lovely resolutions.

You can now upgrade the subscription and get additional products. I haven't done that as of yet because I've got too much stuff. If you like book store gifts (I mean, I do) this seems like a good thing to have.

The card included says:

Fall is a pretty epic, beautiful time where we are located in southern Delaware but...wow, doesn't Maui sound nice right now? (Shout out to our Hawaii readers!) This book has all the elements: mouth-watering Filipino dishes, food trucks, Hawaii-yes!, plus a smoking hot guy...with a British accent. We not only loved all the foodie elements but we always fall for a good enemies - to - ...well, we don't want to ruin it!

The Book Drop also hosted the author of this book in November. I'm useless and missed the event but I do like how bookstores are doing virtual events with authors.

The book title and author is also mentioned, it's Simmer Down by Sarah Smith. Smith is a new author for me. Smith also wrote about the book in a letter to subscribers.

We also received a bookmark, it has fall themes. I adore bookmarks as I'm constantly in the midst of several books.

I'm not sure if this was specially designed by anyone. it's made out of sturdy paper. It won't bend unless forced, but will bend. So not thicker cardboard or plastic.

We also received the Indie Next List which talks about what books are being published this month in hardback (and a few in paperback). I love these things because sometimes I find books that I haven't seen before. Anything to add to my TBR list I suppose.

The book is a paperback, with a pretty fun cover featuring the food truck and sauces.

Synopsis/Blurb from the back cover:

Nikki DiMarco knew life wouldn’t be all sunshine and coconuts when she quit her dream job to help her mom serve up mouthwatering Filipino dishes to hungry beach goers, but she didn’t expect the Maui food truck scene to be so eat-or-be-eaten—or the competition to be so smoking hot.

But Tiva’s Filipina Kusina has faced bigger road bumps than the arrival of Callum James. Nikki doesn’t care how delectable the British food truck owner is—he rudely set up shop next to her coveted beach parking spot. He’s stealing her customers and fanning the flames of a public feud that makes her see sparks.

The solution? Let the upcoming Maui Food Festival decide their fate. Winner keeps the spot. Loser pounds sand. But the longer their rivalry simmers, the more Nikki starts to see a different side of Callum…a sweet, protective side. Is she brave enough to call a truce? Or will trusting Callum with her heart mean jumping from the frying pan into the fire?
